This section provides helpful resources for YAVs, YAV alums and friends of the program to invite young people to serve.
To invite young adults to consider a year of service:
Invite a young adult for a coffee, a meal, a walk…
Many YAVs report that they heard about the YAV program because someone took the time to talk to them about it. Sit down with a young adult and listen to how they are discerning God’s call in their life. Explore with them whether a YAV year could be a part of their discernment journey.
Request a YAV staff or YAV alum to come speak at your church

Hospitality House Resources
Hospitality is a central theme of the Christian tradition. Our approach is to extend that hospitality to a generation of young people who find themselves in times of transition-times when they may feel particularly vulnerable or isolated. In your community there are likely a number of young adults in need of food, affordable housing, fellowship and community-young adults serving agencies like AmeriCorps and Teach For America. Their presence provides us a unique opportunity to live out our call to hospitality.
