Presbyterian Hunger Program
Hunger grant funding supports partners who are doing “root cause” hunger ministry that may include direct food relief, but goes well beyond in order to tackle systemic, structural and policy change. Local projects for direct relief (food pantries, backpack programs, etc.) are wonderful ministries, but they are ineligible for national PHP grant funding, so we encourage you to look to local community foundations for funding.
PHP Grants are awarded primarily to organizations led, organized, and directed by the impacted population themselves. Recommendations are received through our General Assembly-elected Advisory Committee, Presbyterian Mission Agency and other Presbyterian Church (USA) staff, mid-council leaders, current grantee partners, and presbytery Hunger Action Advocates.
