The Presbyterian Mission Agency works extensively in many aspects of education, all the way from preschool-age children through adults.
The Office of Christian Formation supports formation ministries of congregations and connects leaders in faith communities with resources and practices that inspire fresh ways of thinking about the forming of faith over a person’s lifetime.
Presbyterian Women’s publishing ministry speaks particularly to women in the church. The annual PW/Horizons Bible study explores a theme or biblical book in nine thought-provoking, faith-enriching lessons. A subscription to Horizons includes the Bible study, plus six issues of the magazine that explore a particular theme, with topics ranging from Sabbath to human trafficking.
Beyond providing materials, Presbyterian Mission is involved in a major effort to provide quality education to children. There are both national and international components to this campaign. You can become involved in these efforts as an individual volunteer or as a congregation. We welcome conversations with you and a partnership with your congregation, school, seminary, presbytery or synod (those are larger, geographical groups of churches).
We also support the work of the many Presbyterian colleges in the U.S. Many of those are traditionally schools and colleges equipping communities of color. There are some scholarships and grants available in conjunction with racial ethnic schools and colleges. You can find information on the linked page in this paragraph.
We also provide support to Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)-related seminaries.
Presbyterian Publishing Corporation produces educational materials and curriculum that can be used in Sunday School classes and Bible studies, and they publish books by esteemed pastors, seminary leaders and many other Presbyterians. This work is designed to guide teachers, parents and pastors as they help raise the next generation of faithful servants, and to continue the exploration of faith through the teen years and beyond. You can find much of this in Curriculum.
