The current economic crisis has heightened Americans awareness of poverty in the United States. In 2007 37.3 million Americans lived below the official poverty threshold (US Census). With the economic crisis of 2008 and 2009 this number will increase substantially. Funds to this ECO will enable SDOP to engage in partnership with communities of economically poor people working to improve their lives, the lives of their families, and their community. (E053726)
